Rushing the dry ruins flavour and smoothness. The 60/60 rule: 60°F (15–16°C) and 60% humidity for 10–14 days, in the dark with gentle air movement (never blowing directly on buds).
1Drying
Hang whole plants or branches upside down. Whole-plant hangs dry slower and taste better.
Target 15–21°C, 55–62% RH, dark room, a fan circulating the room air.
Ready when small stems snap instead of bending — usually 7–14 days.
Too fast (under 5 days) = hay/grass smell. Too humid (over 65%) = mold risk.
2Curing
Trim buds off branches and fill glass jars about 75% full.
Add a hygrometer. Target 58–62% inside the jar.
Week 1: open (burp) jars 10–15 min, 2–3 times a day. If RH over 65%, leave lid off an hour or put buds back out to dry.
Weeks 2–4: burp once every few days. Use 62% humidity packs if you like.
Minimum 2 weeks; 4–8 weeks gives peak flavour. Store cool and dark.
3Warning signs
Ammonia smell from a jar = too wet. Spread buds out immediately.
White fuzz or grey webbing = mold. Discard affected buds — don't smoke it.
